Emily Brade

I am a self-taught traditional goldsmith specializing in hand-fabricated jewels, including pavé and watercolour miniatures. I'm responsible for each step of the process, from design all the way to stone setting, which is why I like to think of my pieces as single author jewels. They are not always large or extravagant, but each piece is executed to exceptional fineness.

Based in Boston at the moment, I'm originally from Canada, where I studied social history at the University of Toronto. Later, I received an MFA in fiction from Boston Univeristy.

How does pricing work?

Transparently! I offer gold and other materials at market rate on the day of use, plus a flat fee for labour that we work out together at the start of the project. Most custom labour fees range from $1000-3000, depending on how complex the work is. Please reach out for a quote.

Are you a custom jeweler?

I am a private jeweler. I work for clients on commission, and although the process can be collaborative, I am responsible for designs in the end. If you are looking for a fully custom process and a jeweler who will execute your designs, I can help point you in the right direction.

What are your payment options?

I can work with most clients on a flexible payment schedule that works for them. I can also accept payment in scrap gold, and can apply 100% of any scrap payment to a project.

Can you work with my stones?

I strongly prefer to work with stones I've sourced myself, but I'm always willing to take a look at loose stones clients have. I accept them on a case-by-case basis. If they have character, are not newly-mined, and align with my design sensibilities, I am usually happy to work with them.
