This antique ring is made in the 18th century Baroque style, but was likely made in the early to mid 19th century. It is modeled in 18K yellow gold, and features three rose cut diamonds (~0.10 ctw) and a soft heart shaped purple star sapphire (~1 ct). The star sapphire shows no evidence of treatment, and has a few freckle-like inclusions on one side, as pictured. In direct sunlight and strong indoor light you can see a strong 6 ray star centered at the top of the high dome. In indirect natural and indoor light it has a sheen and a silky quality, with no visible star. There are slight traces of engraving on the shank, where it would have been richly decorated when it was first made. The sapphire is an antique replacement.
It is a size 6.75 and sizable, though it would disturb the pattern on the shank.
