These are an exceptionally rare pair of Georgian era earrings. They are poissarde, or fish hook style hoops, with original period details including hooks for large drops, and “wig hooks” on the wire, where you could tie ribbons and pin them into your hair to offset the weight of heavy pendants. They are crafted from 10K gold and sterling silver, set with approximately 2-2.25 carats worth of old mine cut diamonds, and antique turquoise from my collection. They close back to front, which can be an adjustment to learn how to use if you haven’t worn a pair like this before. They weigh 3.5 grams, are 20mm tall excluding the wig hooks, and the 3 stone clusters measure 15 x 6.5 mm.
